Date: 24 th March, 2019
Venue: Wildlife Care Centre, Ghatlodia, Ahmedabad
Experts: Mr. Jagat Kinkhabwala (Also known as Sparrow Man), Mr. Rushi Pathak (Bird Watcher & Conservationist)
Sparrows are important members of our eco-system. Due to human interventions, the sparrows are facing extinction. The Green Catalyst team initiated an event with a theme ‘I Love Sparrows’ as a tribute to ‘The World Sparrow Day’. The theme celebrates an age old relationship of the sparrows and humans. We have been coexisting with nature for all our past, but in the modern context our relationship seems to be blurring. Hence, this event focused on expert discussions, group discussions, and problem-solving of causes, consequences and mitigation for existence of sparrows in the future. The location selection was an add-on to the cause as Wildlife Care Centre is the wildlife first hospital in Gujarat.
Objective of the event:
i. To spread awareness regarding importance of sparrows
ii. To discuss the causes of extinction of sparrows
iii. To bring up a platform for like-minded people to discuss their concerns regarding the species and their mitigation ideas.
