In an ongoing effort to spread E-waste awareness by Green Catalyst, a public discussion was organizedat the Department of social Work, Gujarat University. Department of Social Work has always beenenthusiastic about awareness programs and its HOD, Prof. Mukesh Khatik and faculty member Ms. JignaThakkar has always supported us in organizing various programs. Participants in the public discussionwere mainly students and professors of Social work and Political Science department. The sessionstarted with a presentation on E-waste by Manisha Patel, Paryavaran Mitra who introduced studentsabout numerous toxic components found in e-waste and how adversely they affect the environment.The session also focused on informing students about the importance to dispose e-waste in anenvironmentally responsible manner. An expert of E-waste from E.coli Management Pvt. Ltd Mr. DipeshShah was invited to share his knowledge and experience on E-waste recycling. The session was quietinteractive and students were encouraged to collect and drop off their old electronics and appliances incollection boxes during the week long collection event.
