As we know, Green Catalyst is a group of enthusiastic students who intend to spread environmentalawareness among citizens of Ahmedabad and initiate actions resulting in improvement of theenvironment. This even was one of the important events as it gave an opportunity to promoteawareness about importance of trees, environmental balance and sustainable lifestyles.These Catalysts celebrated rakshabandhan in an extraordinary manner by tying rakhi (a promise toprotect) to an 100 year old tree in Vastrapur village. The tree was supposed to cut off by thegovernment in the process of the ongoing development. Hence, the aim was to spread awareness to thesocieties and more importantly protect the tree. Hence slogan such as ‘Protect Tree it will Protect You’were pledged and chanted while tying the rakhi and walking around the tree during protesting. As aresult, we were able to save an age old tree peacefully, while creating awareness among thesurrounding communities.
